What it actually pays for
We pay veterinary invoices directly — the clinic gets paid by us, not reimbursed later by a rescue that may not have the cash to front it in the first place.
- $25Basic meds and supplies. Antibiotics, pain relief, wound care for an animal just out of intake.
- $50Core vaccinations. The shots that let an animal safely join the adoptable population.
- $100A dental. One of the most common reasons an otherwise healthy older dog sits unadopted.
- $250Diagnostics. Bloodwork and x-rays — the bills that stop a rescue saying yes to an intake.
- $500Toward surgery. Amputations, mass removals, the injuries nobody budgets for.

Public, by default — because you should be able to see exactly who is funding this. Prefer not to be named? Say so when you give and you'll be listed as Anonymous.
For rescues & fosters
Need help with a vet bill?
If you're a rescue, shelter or foster in Canada or the United States sitting on a veterinary bill you can't cover, apply. Tell us about the animal, the clinic and the amount. We pay the clinic directly, and we'll always give you a straight answer either way.
- Open to registered rescues, shelters and individual fosters working with one
- We settle with the clinic — you're never reimbursed after the fact
- Funding depends on what's been donated, so we can't promise every application
Straight answers
How this works, honestly.
Where does the money go? To veterinary invoices for animals in rescue across Canada and the United States. We pay clinics directly.
Is this tax-deductible? Not at the moment. Pet Rescue Portraits is not yet a registered charity, so contributions are not tax-deductible and we cannot issue receipts. We'd rather tell you that up front than have you find out at tax time.
Will my name be public? Yes, on the supporters wall above, unless you ask to be anonymous. We publish a first name and last initial, plus the amount — never your email, address or anything else.
Who decides who gets helped? Right now, we do — weighing urgency, the size of the bill, and what's actually in the fund. As this grows we'll publish the criteria properly.
Questions before you give? Just ask.
