Toronto · Serving rescues across Canada & the USA

Every rescue pet
deserves a better
first impression.

Most shelter pets are judged on a photo taken through kennel bars in bad light on a stressful day. We give them a real portrait — one that shows who they actually are. Free to the rescue, always. Funded by sponsors who want their brand attached to something that matters.

A photo is the only thing
most adopters ever see.

Before anyone meets a dog, they scroll past it. The intake photo is the entire pitch — and it's usually taken in a hurry, in a concrete room, by someone with forty more to get through. A frightened animal in a bad photo reads as a frightened animal. A well-photographed one reads as family.

Same dog. Completely different outcome.

How it works

Three parties. Nobody pays
who can't afford to.

01

The rescue

Gets a full portrait session for its adoptable animals at zero cost. No invoice, no minimum, no budget line to defend to a board. Edited galleries come back within 48 hours, sized and ready for Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, Instagram and print.

02

The sponsor

A pet brand or local business funds the session and gets the content. Real photography of real animals they helped, with their name on the work — plus credit across every gallery, post and adoption listing the shoot produces.

03

The pet

Walks into a calm room, gets treats and time, and leaves with a portrait that makes somebody stop scrolling. That's the whole point. Everything else here exists to make this part happen more often.

The work

For shelters & rescues

Bring Pet Rescue Portraits
to your rescue.

We're booking sessions across Canada and the United States. Tell us about your organisation and we'll get in touch as sponsorship opens up in your region.

Apply for a session

Applying doesn't guarantee a session — we match rescues to sponsors region by region, and we'll always tell you honestly where you stand.

What you get

Everything you need to post the same day.

  • A full portrait session for your adoptable animals, on location at your facility or in studio.
  • Edited galleries within 48 hours, cropped for Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, Instagram, Facebook and print.
  • Short vertical video for each animal where time allows — the format that actually travels.
  • Full usage rights for adoption, fundraising and marketing. The photos are yours, permanently.
  • No cost, no catch. Sponsors fund the session. You are never invoiced.

For brands & businesses

Put your name on
the reason they got adopted.

Sponsorship funds a shoot — and produces a library of professional animal photography your marketing team can actually use. Cause marketing that comes with the assets attached.

Talk to us about sponsoring

Sponsorship

Three ways in.

Every level covers real sessions and real animals. Nothing here is a logo on a page — you get the photography too.

Session sponsor

Funds one shoot

  • Underwrites a single rescue session end to end
  • Credit on every gallery and adoption post from that shoot
  • Licensed photo set for your own channels
Most useful

Regional partner

  • Recurring sessions with rescues in one metro area
  • Named as the regional partner across all of it
  • Branded props, bandanas or backdrop where appropriate
  • Ongoing photo and short-video library

National partner

Funds the programme

  • Multi-city sessions across Canada and the USA
  • Headline credit on the site and every shoot
  • Co-developed campaigns and custom shoot briefs
  • First look at everything we produce

Something in between? That's usually where we land. Email us and we'll build it around your budget.

About

Started in Toronto.
Headed everywhere we're needed.

I'm a pet photographer based in Toronto. I kept seeing the same thing: extraordinary animals represented online by photographs that did them no favours at all — not because anyone was careless, but because shelter staff are stretched impossibly thin and a good portrait takes time nobody has.

Pet Rescue Portraits exists to donate that time. Rescues get the session for free. Sponsors make it possible and get genuinely useful content in return. We're building this out across Canada and the United States, one region at a time, as sponsorship allows.

If you run a rescue, or you run a brand that would rather fund something real than buy another stock photo — let's talk.
